Bonspiels

A Bonspiel is a curling tournament at which teams from several clubs compete with one another. Bonspiels are often held on weekends and last for 3 - 4 days… so you get to take a day off from work!!

What’s involved in going to a bonspiel?

Form a team.. you will need a Skip, a Vice, a 2nd, and a lead.

Register your team and pay on the bonspiel’s website. The cost of a bonspiel is typically from $280 - $400 for a team of four. The cost is based on number of games, and on amenities included, such as meals, drinks, and entertainment.

In addition you’ll need to find lodging in the area. The host will have a list of hotels/motels and many teams use Air BnB.

Most bonspiels have a theme and some require teams to dress in costume and/or perform a skit based on the theme of the bonspiel.

Bonspiels are a great social event where you’ll meet curlers from all over and trade club pins.
